Gold Stevie® Winner - Female Solo Entrepreneur of the Year 2019
I'm Pauline the founder of Story Rock Star. I'm a passionate entrepreneur, filmmaker, and author.
At 157cm tall, nothing about me is small. Apparently, I’m unforgettable… I hope for all the right reasons. I’ve had an awesome creative life so far. I’ve acted on the stage in London, directed films and documentaries in Australia, and written my first young adult novel, 'Can you feel it?'.
I teach teenagers filmmaking and storytelling. My main area of focus is the deaf community, particularly for the charity 'Hear for You'. These teenagers are orally deaf and use a hearing aid or the Cochlear implant to assist in their hearing, sometimes both!
With Hear for You, I helped create the first Deaf Film Festival in Sydney, Australia. This festival gives a voice to teenagers around Australia who have a hearing loss.
I'm passionate about raising awareness of teenage issues, especially cyberbullying and mental health. My short film Liv has stimulated the conversation on cyberbullying globally, through its international film festivals screenings. Liv often receives standing ovations and fist pumps from its teenage audience at festivals and youth conferences.
I worked with the REELise Film Festival for five years as a board and committee member. Throughout my time with REELise we stimulated the conversation on cyberbullying alongside teenagers through pocket filmmaking.
I've also worked for the Indigenous department of the Australian Catholic University (ACU). We collaborated on a transmedia/cross-platform strategy to raise visibility both internally and externally for their Indigenous programs. The main aim was to increase enrollment from outback Indigenous communities to ACU for midwifery and other programs.
In November 2019, I won the Gold Stevie for 'Solo Entrepreneur of the Year' in New York City for my business Story Rock Star. Story Rock Star became a Startup in 2018, it works predominantly in the government sector and for charities specialising in the challenges of hearing loss in Australia.
I love collaborating with companies, charities, individuals or schools through storytelling and filmmaking. Don’t be shy, call me… we could create magic together.
